Warriors defeat Raiders to claim Robeson County Middle School Volleyball title

 Pembroke- Pembroke defeated Orrum 3-0 by scores of 25-23,25-20 and 25-14 win the 2015 Robeson County Middle School Volleyball Championship. Early on Orrum jumped out to 3-0 lead as Cheyanna Oxendine had 2 service aces. Pembroke tied the game 3-3 following a hitting error and an ace by Tehya Bullard. Orrum (12-2) then erupted for 8 straight points off the serve of Georgianna Waters as Waters had 2 kills and 4 aces to push lead to 12-3. Pembroke (14-0)scored 4 points as Kaley Deese had a kill and Carrington Harris had 2 service aces to cut lead to 12-7. Orrum then pushed lead to16-9 after kills by Oxendine and Kiona Page. Trailing 17-11 Haliya Williamson served 5 straight points to cut lead to 17-16. Williamson had 3 service aces on that run. It was back and forth from there as Orrum got up 23-20. It was all Alissa Jones from there as she served 5 points with 3 service aces including the final one on set point.

 In the second set Pembroke led 5-3 when Kaley Deese had 4 service aces and Bullard contributed a kill to push lead out to 10-3.After 2 aces by Brianna Ferguson made score 15-6, Raiders cut lead to 15-11.  A Bullard ace pushed lead to 17-11, When Lady Raiders erupted for 8 straight points to go up 19-17, forcing a timeout by Warriors. Waters had 3 kills and 2 aces during that run. A serving error by Raiders cut lead to 19-18 and Harris scored 6 points on serve including 3 aces. Leading 24-20 Kaley Deese ended the set with a kill.  

 The 3rd set was nip and tuck until with the score tied at 8-8, Deese served 8 straight points. Deese had 2 aces during that run. Orrum scored 5 of next 6 points to cut lead to 17-13. Leading 21-14, a serving error by Orrum and Warriors Bullard ended the match serving the last 3 points including a service ace to end the match.

 Harris led Warriors with  13 service points including 7 aces and  Deese also had 13 service points and 6 aces and also chipped in with 4 kills.  Bullard had  7 service points including 3 aces and tied with 4 kills.

Raiders were led by Waters as she had 18 service points including 7 aces and had game high with 6 kills. Oxendine chipped in with 8 service points including 4 aces.
